I just recently finished my masters degree in Advertising at Bournemouth University. I took this as a productive vacation- a chance to take a break from work, but at the same time, to learn and understand my field better in hopes of becoming more knowledgeable and helpful to my clients, and to future colleagues.
Prior to that, I’ve worked as a digital creative in Publicis Manila. I was creating ideas for campaigns, pitching in some, and also, creating visuals for brands under Nestle and P&G. A few more years before that, I finished my bachelors degree in advertising arts at the University of Santo Tomas.
Let’s set aside the introduction and get into the more exciting stuff: Design- the unwritten word. I love how design can communicate. I love brands and branding most of all. Branding is everywhere, and is innate in us human beings. We wish to stand out, but is that all there is to branding? Branding is giving meaning and is a guide- a framework to our beliefs, what we represent, which all the more makes it so important. To be at all honest, I love my work so much that I see the payment as just the bonus, though of course, I have to live so I take what I’m given (Ha).
Now work related stuff aside, whenever I can, I travel. Travelling gives me inspiration, not just something to post for Instagram. Absorbing people’s culture, seeing the difference, living their moment, broadens my understanding of people, places, and phenomenons.
